The son of Pittsburg Steelers defensive end James Harrison is recovering after he was attacked by the family’s pitt bull.
The boy was bitten in the thigh and taken to a hospital after his mother let the dog out of its pen. The mother and a massage therapist were also injured in the attack.
The family had never had any problems before with the dog, which is why the attack came as such a surprise. They are trying to find a place for the dog so it does not have to be euthanized.
It’s been a bad couple of weeks for Harrison, who has been taking an awful lot of heat over his decision not to go to the White House with his team for the ceremony honoring the Super Bowl champions.

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end and NFL Defensive Player of the Year James Harrison said he doesn’t plan to head to the White House with his teammates to meet President Obama.
He said he doesn’t want to go because he thinks the Steelers wouldn’t have been invited had they not won the Super Bowl, an assessment that is absolutely correct.
The logic is more than a bit flawed though, as you could claim that Harrison shouldn’t have accepted his DPOY award because he wouldn’t have won it had he not played so well.
Most players are thrilled with the chance to head to the White House, especially this year because President Obama is so popular among athletes and celebrities.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a tough cut, releasing linebacker Larry Foote to help free up $2.9 million under the salary cap.
The extra cap room will allow the Steelers to possibly sign a couple of their other players to contracts, some to long-term deals that will keep them with the team for many years to come.
Foote had been a huge part of the Pittsburgh defense in their 3-4 scheme. He was known for his versatility in being able to play the linebacking position while also rushing the passer and being a factor in pass coverage.
So far, Foote has not signed with another NFL team, so he could always return to the Steelers later in the summer if the price is right. Then again, the Steelers are so tight with the salary cap that it’s tough to see that happening.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have cut running back Gary Russell, who found himself as part of the goaline package much of last season.
Russell was actually cut by the Steelers during the middle of last season but was later re-signed by the team. The running back was known for his speed, but ability to run over and through defenders to get into the end zone.
He was also a factor in short-yardage situations.
Russell was the team’s go-to player whenever they had an injury at the running back position.
He was initially signed because the team was without starting running back Willie Parker, and he later became important when rookie running back Rashard Mendenhall broke his shoulder and was declared out for the season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers had the most picks in the NFL Draft despite the fact they are the defending champions, but it seems like it did them little good.
Instead of packaging some of their picks to move up in the draft and select some top players, the Steelers pretty much stayed put.
They really didn’t get anyone worth noting, although they did add some help along the offensive and defensive lines.
It was an underwhelming draft for a team that had the opportunity to really solidify their status as the team to beat in 2009.
