Steelers hold off Jets, 24-19

The Pittsburgh Steelers built a commanding lead by halftime and then hung on for a 24-19 win over the New York Jets.

Pittsburgh put together a dominating first half, capped by a fumble recovery run back for a touchdown by William Gay.

The second half was a completely different story, and the Jets might just have pulled off the comeback if they had a few more minutes.

Give the Steelers credit for making a couple of big first downs on the final drive to run out the clock. (Read More…)

Steelers rally past Ravens, 31-24

The Pittsburgh Steelers rallied back from a two-touchdown deficit at halftime to earn a 31-24 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw a 58-yard strike to wideout Antonio Brown on third-and-19 to set up the game-winning touchdown run.

Pittsburgh was then able to hold off the Ravens on the final drive of the game, taking advantage of a critical drop by T.J. Houshmandzadeh on fourth down.

The win continues Big Ben’s dominance over the Ravens, as he is now 7-2 against Baltimore over the course of his career. He has not lost to them since 2006. (Read More…)

Steelers set for Ravens showdown

The Pittsburgh Steelers are rested and a bit more healthy heading into their showdown with the Baltimore Ravens.

The team took advantage of last week’s first-round bye to get players like Troy Polamalu rested up for the playoff run.

The Ravens are the last team the Steelers wanted to see, but they have had a lot of success against them in recent years when Big Ben has started at quarterback.

Joe Flacco has never beaten Pittsburgh when Big Ben played, a significant advantage for the Steelers. (Read More…)

Steelers crush Browns, 41-9

The Pittsburgh Steelers quickly erased any fears of an upset in a 41-9 pounding of the Cleveland Browns.

The Steelers came out ready to bury the rival Browns from the opening kickoff and never really let up.

Wide receiver Mike Wallace had three catches for 104 yards and a touchdown as he ran virtually uncovered through the Cleveland secondary.

Things got so ugly that the Steelers pulled Ben Roethlisberger out of the game and gave Byron Leftwich some action. (Read More…)
